The exhibition “EAST TO EAST” presents a selection from the award-winning series by the Franco-Slovenian photographer Klavdij Sluban.
Literature and travel are the basis of his poetic and magical black and white photographs. These journeys, starting in Paris, Klavdij Sluban’s adopted home, take him to the Balkans and along the Trans-Siberian route to China and Japan. For Klavdij Sluban, the aura of the picture is the only decisive criterion. He transfers the impact of the novel as a forerunner of cinema and the visual reception of literature to his seeing and photography. This semantic transmission allows Klavdij Sluban to create timeless images and spread the decelerating effects of his landscapes, scenes and portraits before us.
