Andreas H. Bitesnich (born in Vienna, 1964) is an Austrian photographer and musician. He specializes in nude and portrait photography. His work appears regularly in international magazines.
How and when did you become interested in photography?
I became aware of photography in the mid 1980s through a chance meeting with the assistant of a famous fashion photographer.
Is there any artist/photographer who inspired your art?
My main inspiration comes from painters such as Lucian Freund or Egon Schiele.
Why do you work in black and white rather than colour?
I started with black and white photography as it gave me full control over the results through the use of various darkroom processes. I then turned to colour for almost a decade, but have found my way back to black and white during the last few years.
How much preparation do you put into taking a photograph/series of photographs?
I think I am one of the most analogue digital photographers. My creative process is very instinctive, I trust my gut feeling.
Where is your photography going? What projects would you like to accomplish?
I am currently working on several, quite diverse, book projects that I intend to publish this year.
