One of the famous beaches in East Sumba, Indonesia is Walakiri Beach. What attracted many professional photographers are this unique mangrove trees. Another uniqueness of Walakiri Beach is the beach sand that has a texture like powder or wet cement when the tide are low. Most beautifully about this beach is that it is East – West facing; hence, you can be here for sunset and next morning for the sunrise shoot.

During sunset, if the tide is high, you get calm water with awesome reflection. If the tide is lower, then the silhouette of mangrove trees that twist like dancers makes Walakiri beach sunset a unique phenomenon. During sunset, the combination of the color of the twilight sky and the silhouette of mangrove trees looks truly artistic and photogenic.
