The photo reportage shows the return of a disease called tuberculosis. The epidemic occurs, where hardship and poverty prevail, nowhere in Europe it is more widespread than in the Republic of Moldova. Florian Bachmeier has accompanied the victims of the disease with his camera, captured their life and death in black and white images. He did what a photographer and reporter needs to do: to go and document what he sees – even if it hurts, that is what made documentary photography strong and indispensable. Large photographic performance, however, another category has to be added: empathy. Empathy makes us feel what the other feels and the compassion leads us, we want to help. In this purpose, Florian Bachmeier certainly succeeded.
